Our Story

We’re Tiffany and Eddie, the husband-and-wife team behind NextDoor Counseling Services. Our journey into the mental health field began in 2015 when we realized we wanted to create lasting, meaningful change in people’s lives—beyond what we were seeing in our day-to-day roles. Since then, we’ve built our private practice with a shared purpose: to offer compassionate, empowering therapy that helps individuals grow into their truest, most confident selves.
But our impact doesn’t stop at the therapy room.

We’re active members of the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association (FMHCA) and are deeply involved in mental health initiatives throughout the state, including continuing education. We’re always looking for new ways to give back and expand access to emotional wellness.

I’m Tiffany Settles, a licensed mental health counselor based in Florida, and I’m grateful you’re here. My journey in this field began in 2005 after earning my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I started my career as a behavioral tech in an adolescent residential program, supporting teens facing moderate to severe mental health and behavioral challenges. That experience shaped my understanding of how deeply people desire to be seen, heard, and guided with genuine care. It also inspired me to move toward one-on-one work, complete my master’s in clinical psychology, and build a therapeutic practice rooted in connection and compassion.
Over the years, I’ve worked with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, stress, and major life transitions. I draw from a wide range of therapeutic modalities to help clients gain clarity, build emotional resilience, and strengthen their ability to manage life on their terms. I’ve learned that no two people experience the world in the same way, which is why I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs, perspectives, and lived realities of each person I sit with. My goal is never to treat symptoms in isolation—I treat the whole person.
My style is grounded in humanistic and person-centered principles. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your internal world with honesty and curiosity. I encourage my clients to practice grace, compassion, and gentleness with themselves because life already asks so much of us. You don’t have to carry everything alone. Together, we can untangle the stress, confusion, and emotional weight you’ve been holding, so you can see more clearly and make choices that honor who you are and who you want to become.
I also bring my lived experience to my work. As someone who has managed type 1 diabetes for more than thirty-five years, I understand what it means to navigate a chronic condition, daily uncertainty, and the emotional fatigue that can follow. The same coping tools, grounding skills, and mind-body strategies I use to stay balanced are the ones I teach my clients. I share this because healing is not about perfection—it’s about finding stability, self-understanding, and peace even when life is complicated.

I use a blend of evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), always tailored to the unique needs and cultural identities of my clients. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress-related disorders, and personality dynamics, with a strong foundation in supporting BIPOC communities in culturally affirming ways.

You may not be able to control the chaos around you, but you can reclaim your inner calm. You are a whole person, not a collection of symptoms. You deserve a space where you can slow down, breathe, feel supported, and learn to reclaim control over your life. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to begin, I’m here to walk that path with you. You can live a life that reflects who you truly are—not just who you had to be to survive. Let's work together to create the clarity, healing, and inner steadiness you’ve been longing for.

When I'm not therapy-ing...
I LOVE crocheting. Give me a good movie or series to binge and I can crochet for hours! I also enjoy hanging out with my family, cooking, gardening, reading (mostly audiobooks), and outdoor activities (riding my bike, swimming, going for walks, relaxing at a causeway).
