We offer a variety of therapeutic approaches, including (but not limited to) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and more. There is no approach that works for everyone. We select evidenced-based approaches to tailor each of your specific need(s).

*Who can benefit from therapy?**

Therapy can benefit anyone open to the process. Events occur in all of our lives and it's okay to seek assistance to face these challenges. Therapy allows you to explore yourself internally to  respond to life's events with confidence. Facing emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges is difficult and you don't have to face them alone. Therapy provides you with tools to help you better navigate these challenges.

**How do I know if therapy is right for me?**

Are you experiencing persistent emotional difficulties, feeling overwhelmed, or struggling to cope with life’s challenges? Are your current ways of coping not working or having a negative impact on your social, educational, relationship, or work life? If you answered yes to any of these questions, therapy might be a helpful resource. Our free, initial consultation can help determine if therapy is the right fit for you.

**What should I expect in my first session?**

The first session is typically an intake session where we discuss your background, reasons for seeking therapy, and goals for treatment. It’s an opportunity for you to ask questions and see if you feel comfortable working with your therapist.

**How long does therapy last?**

The length of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients may find relief in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We’ll regularly review your progress and adjust the treatment as needed.

**How often will we meet?**

Typically, clients meet with their therapist once a week, but this can vary based on your needs and schedule. We’ll work together to find a frequency that works best for you.

**What is your cancellation policy?**

We require 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee of $60. Please contact us as soon as possible if need to reschedule.

Does NextDoor Counseling Services Accept Insurance?

Quick answer, no. BUT  we understand—paying out of pocket for therapy can feel like a big decision, especially if you have insurance. But here’s the truth: choosing private pay therapy means investing in your mental health on your terms, without the red tape or limitations insurance often brings.

Here's why our clients choose private pay:

  • Increased Privacy & Confidentiality

No formal diagnosis required. No insurance companies accessing your personal records. Just you and your therapist—no middlemen involved. Your sessions stay 100% confidential.

  • Customized, Client-Led Treatment

Insurance companies often limit what’s covered and for how long. With private pay, you and your therapist decide what’s best for your journey. Whether you want weekly deep dives or occasional check-ins, we’ll tailor your care to your unique needs—not a coverage policy.

  • No Network Hassles or Denial

Forget scrambling to find someone in-network or waiting on approvals. Private pay means no denials, no referrals, and no wondering if the next session will be covered. You're in control from day one.

  • More Than Just Diagnosable Conditions

Therapy isn’t only for mental health diagnoses. Maybe you're navigating stress, a big life change, low self-esteem, or just want to grow. Private pay allows us to support your wellness—even if it doesn’t fit neatly into an insurance box.

  • Access to Services Beyond What Insurance Covers

We incorporate tools, resources, and holistic practices that may not be covered by insurance plans. Think of it as therapy with more freedom, creativity, and depth.

Still have questions? Let’s talk it through during your free consultation. You deserve care that works for you—not your insurance company.
